So, we are settling into our new routine. All the laundry and unpacking from Arkansas is done. Our friend K has moved in with us for the school year which prompted me to do some reorganization. A very good thing. Peanut is growing like a weed. He now weighs just over 15 pounds and can no longer wear the 0-3 month clothes we brought him home in.

J is teaching two classes this fall (one at Rutgers, one at Rider University), writing his dissertation, attending one conference, and presenting at another, all while applying for academic jobs for Fall 2009. Yikes. He is one busy dude. I am learning to enjoy my time at home, taking care of the little man. I go back to work on October 20th (in office two days per week, on-call at home one weekend day per week).

Peanut is in cloth diapers most of the time now (bumgenius) which is pretty cool. AND--I made his baby food for the week. Peas, peaches, and acorn squash. Throw in a little rice cereal and applesauce and we're set!

We have our last Dr. Aronson appointment next week which is both happy and sad (because we LOVE her). So, there'll probably be more stats then.

Until next time--enjoy the new fall TV seasons :)

oh my gosh, i am just catching up on your blog. please please tell me how you went about making the baby food. i have tried so many times, but i just can't get it smooth enough for my little texture-sensitive gag reflexes!! i guess i just don't have the right equipment? also, where are you ordering your bum geniuses? i really want to work toward cloth diapers, at least during the daytime, but i don't know anyone else who does it to tell me how!! thank goodness kat is finally a mom so she can help me!

ok. so, i got some food at our local farmers market and grocery store, and either baked, boiled, or steamed it depending on how easy each thing was to do. then i just blended it with this handy hand blender thing with a little of the water/juices from the cooking and froze it in ice cube trays. that way, i just pull out enough cubes for the next day each night and let them thaw in the fridge. so far... so good.

the bumgeniuses i ordered from cottonbabies.com. i ordered the one size diapers (so that i NEVER have to buy more--this would also allow you to use the same diapers on both boys b/c the size is adjustable). i bought 18 and wash about every other day. we put disposables on when we know he is going to poop (as he is somewhat predictable now) and also put flushable liners in just in case... if i had to do it over again, and could afford it, I think i'd do gdiapers (gdiapers.com) which have a cloth exterior and a flushable, compostable, biodegradable interior.

lovin the maya wrap, by the way:) thanks. and he's going to wear one of the outfits from you for his dedication at our church in a couple of weeks.
